Making Pakistan Safe for Rapists

In November 2006, Pakistan’s military ruler steamrolled the Protection of Women Bill 2006 into law claiming to end injustices against women. It was promptly rubber stamped by the National Assembly. In reality, this bill makes it much more difficult to punish crimes against women and provides all kinds of protection to rapists and fornicators. In this blatant attempt to make Pakistan safe for rapists, one can see the true face of “Enlightened Islam” that General Musharraf has been tasked to introduce in Pakistan.

The account is important not just for the people of Pakistan; Muslim women everywhere can expect similar treatment from their “moderate” rulers.

This article on AlBalagh.net is based on an article in Urdu and an interview by Hadhrat Mufti Justic Muhammad Taqi Usmani (damate barakatuhu).

Salaams, i found the article very useful but i am confused about the difference between zina and fornication? I thought they were the same crime? Why does the latter charge only require two witnesses? Maybe i have misunderstood something… Wa’salam

I think you misunderstood because it’s about fornication and rape. Since zina means fornication, but in Urdu rape is called zina bil jabr.

IT IS VERY AGONISING TO SEE SO MUCH OF CRIME AGAINST WOMEN IN PAKISTAN GIVEN PAK HAS A MUSLIM MAJORITY.AT THE SAME TIME WHAT HURTS MORE IS THAT PEOPLE OF PAKISTAN ARE PORTRAYING ISLAM AS THEY LIKE.FOR INSTANCE GANG RAPES ARE A PUNISHMENT FOR THE GIRL WHO MARRIES WITH HER OWN WILL.GIVEN SUCH CIRCUMSTANCES GENERAL USHARAFF IS FULLY JUSTIFIED IN BRINGING THE ISSUE UNDER GOVERNMENT CONTROL.

All the regulations, laws and Hududs to punish and to prevent such acts are prescribed in the Shariah. A Muslim thinking, that himself comes up with better Laws than the Qur’an and the Sunnah do, is just making a fool out of himself.

Ulama like Hadhrat Mufti Taqi Usmani Sahab (damat barkatuhum) himself tried to help the Pakistan Goverment as much as possible in the task of sticking to the Divine Law & Regulations.
