Whenever our Shaikh, Hazrat Maulana Shah Hakeem Muhammad Akhtar Sahib, goes on a trip or journey, then to continue with the affairs of conducting the daily majalis, his son, my respected principal, Hazrat Maulana Muhammad Mazhar Sahib, takes charge. Masha Allah, they both have ijaazat from Hazrat Maulana Shah Abrar ul Haq Sahib (RA).
Once when Hazratwala (DB) was on such a journey, Maulana Mazhar Sahib (DB) conducted the majalis and gave lectures. During one such lecture, Maulana Mazhar started the lecture off in the following manner, “Respected friends, it is a well known article of fiqh, that in the absence of water, one must make due with the dirt of the earth, i.e. tayammum. So in the absence of my esteemed father, for some time, you all will have to make due with me. It is also a well know article of fiqh that when water is found, tayammum is nullified, so when my respected father returns, you will not hear me speak so often because then my father will resume giving his routine lectures and conducting his daily majalis.”
