at-Tazkirah: التذكرة

“And keep reminding, because reminding benefits the believers.” (51:55)

Status of Sahih Bukhari

Sahih Bukhari ShareefImam Bukhari (Rahmatullah Alayh) is one of those Muhadditheen about whose book the entire Ummah collectively said, that this book is اصح الکتب بعد کتب اللہ, that means after the Book of Allah the most authentic book is ‘Sahih Bukhari’. But the Ummah did not claim this just like that, instead after controvert and regulative ‘Ulema explored and investigated every single Hadith and after pressing them through the countless sieves of controvert and criticism, this conclusion was the outcome and the entire Ummah agreed upon this. From 700.000 Ahadith Imam Bukhari (Rahmatullah Alayh) has selected these Ahadith, that are written in Sahih Bukhari. And he as well selected them in a way, that first off all bringing forward each of all the technical ways of auditing that exist he tested each Hadith and he reviewed it’s chain of narrators. And even after auditing and testing each Hadith and applying all the formulas, he wasn’t contented yet.

Before Writing of Hadith
But prior to each [session of] Hadith writing he took a bath, prayed two Raka’at and did Istikhara, and the reason for making Istikhara was to express to Allah Ta’ala,

“Ya’ Allah, to the limit of my effort and exertion and my knowledge I have researched this Hadith. And from this point this Hadith seems Sahih (sound) to me, but should I write it in the book or not? For this I am seeking Istikhara.”

Then after the heart has become satisfied and Allah Ta’ala opened his heart through doing Istikhara, he wrote the Hadith in the book.

    JazakAllah.

I remember listening to Mufti Zar Wali Khan and he mentioned that its not correct that Imam Bukhari would take bath before writing each hadith but instead you can say each time he would sit down to write hadith.

If that was the case, he would be taking a bath after every few mintues. So according to him this particular point is not authentic.

    Allah Knows Best.

  2. Masoud says:

What year did Imam Bukhari was born .What was time diiference between prophit mohammed (PBUH) and Imam Bukhari

  3. Saad says:

Although i’m a muslim without any leanings towards any sect, i would like to state my opinion regarding hadith in Bukhari. After reading the entire collection, i came to the conclusion that Bukhari raised more questions than the problems solved. For instance, a major theme which arises after studying the text objectively is that there were a LOT of conflicts and differences between earlier companions of the Prophet, particularly in the post Prophetic period.

Also, i was surpprised to find many ahadith narrated in the two sahihs by marwan ibn al-hakam. I did some research, and he seems to be a very shady character, possibly involved in the murder of Hazrat Uthman (r.a). Why take hadith from this person at all?

  4. SANAULLA SHARIEF says:

If not Bukhari and Muslim, then what are the alternatives?

    1. Follow the other books of ahadees, which suits your mind-set and your madhab.
2.Follow the ‘ ihya ul uloom’
    3.Reject the ‘ahadees’ and become a hadees-rejector

    END RESULT.

You will not find a way to
    1. Understand and follow the correct aqeeda.
2.To perform the ‘ibadat’, in the way of the prophet
3.To perform ‘namaz e janaza’ and burial of your mother.
    4. and many more things you can think off.

  5. SANAULLA SHARIEF says:

    Ulterior Motive.

The main reason why the ‘hanafees’ abhor and hate the books of Imam Bukhari and Imam Muslim is that , their ‘madhab’ is far away and in some cases in contradiction to ‘sahih ahadees’
